| dc.description.abstract | [Español] Introducción: La diabetes mellitus tipo 2 (DM2) y la enfermedad cardiovascular (ECV) están claramente asociadas y constituyen un problema de salud creciente, de proporción epidemiológica en todo el mundo, incluida la República Dominicana, consideradas como la nueva epidemia del siglo XXI. Materiales y método: Este artículo se realizó una revisión narrativa (N=76,759) de la asociación fisiopatológica de los ARN largos no codificantes (ARNlnc) entre la DM2 y ECV, comprendiendo así la evolución epidemiológica, genética y epigenética de ambas enfermedades verificando n=20 artículos. Resultados: Diversos ARNlnc, como ANRIL, LINC-PINT, MALAT-1, LIPCAR, SENCR y MIAT, han sido identificados en pacientes con DM2 y complicaciones cardiovasculares, sugiriendo su posible rol en la predicción de eventos cardiovasculares. Conclusiones: La investigación sobre los ARNlnc en el contexto de la ECV en pacientes con DM2 puede ofrecer nuevas soluciones innovadoras para abordar el alto riesgo cardiovascular asociado con la DM2. | - |
| dc.description.abstract | [English] Introduction: Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and cardiovascular disease (CVD) are clearly associated and represent a growing health problem of epidemiological proportions worldwide, including in the Dominican Republic, and are considered the new epidemic of the 21st century. Materials and Methods: This article narrative reviews the pathophysiological association of long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) between T2DM and CVD, thereby understanding the epidemiological, genetic, and epigenetic evolution of both diseases. Results: Various lncRNAs, such as ANRIL, LINC-PINT, MALAT-1, LIPCAR, SENCR, and MIAT, have been identified in patients with T2DM and cardiovascular complications, suggesting their potential role in predicting cardiovascular events erifying n=20 articles. Conclusions: Research on lncRNAs in the context of CVD in patients with T2DM may offer innovative solutions to address the high cardiovascular risk associated with T2DM. | - |
